Florence Horse Show
Carl, Sam, Dr. Gore, Mr. Burnette, and David
We went to an exhibitor's party on Friday night before the Florence Horse Show that is always a lot of fun. The Pee Dee Horseman's Association provided BBQ for the meal, followed by a live auction. The auction had a lot of really nice things this year- several stud fees, a go cart, a yearling, chain cart, porch swing, framed prints, riding suits, and many other things. Most of our customers were able to attend the party and so did Celia and Brian, so we had a lot of fun.
Saturday, we were getting ready for the show and found out around noon that Tropical Storm Barry was moving in. The show was canceled but we had a lot of fun anyway, even in the rain. (It rained a slow/soaking rain ALL day) The barn was swarming with people all day long and the horses looked great. A lot of our local customers were busy at the showgrounds, but we also had a lot of folks who came in from out of town. Vickie Penick came in from Walterboro, Gail Bayer and a few of her friends came in from Maryland, and the Adcock family & James Pendleton came from Pennsylvania. Celia, Brian and W stopped by to visit later in the afternoon. Mrs. Donna and Mary Catherine came by for a little while, Bill Bailey, Larry Kyte and his dad also came by....along with many others! Tommy Blackwell and about 10 of his horses came in on Friday night so all of his customers were at the barn too. It really was a great day and I think everyone had fun socializing and watching horses. We went to lunch with the Adcocks and James Benton and then had more to do at the barn afterwards. I don't think we got to bed until 1am or so. It was a good weekend and we had a lot of fun. The show is re-scheduled for October 27th. (I will post pictures tonight)
